This place is closed every Wednesday and we stupidly went TWICE! Then we had to resort to ordering curry fish head at Gong Xi Fa Cai (don’t laugh, its a real stall name) which is nearby. So just this week we finally saw this place open!
We ordered the curry fish head (duh!), hot plate toufu and 八宝 don’t know what vegetable. She ordered it so I have no idea. The fish head part, honestly I have no opinion on it, its just properly cooked like how it should. Not gonna dwell into how soft or hard or juicy it is.
Now, the difference is the curry. One sip of it and one thing comes to my mind : TOM YUM. She asks me “so which one tastes better, Gong Xi Fa Cai, Malu Malu or this one?” I tell her that, between these 3 there is no better or lousier, it is just what type of gravy you prefer.
I would go to the Zai Shun if I wanted a more tom yum tasting gravy. Malu malu if I wanted more creamy and Gong Xi Fa Cai if I wanna eat lots of curry vegetables (really generous portions).
So to sum it up, if you have curry fish head and tom yum taste craving, head to Zai Shun. And the kitchen churns out food bloody quick.
